Mrs. Joyce Ann Campbell, 88 of Bloomfield Township, Michigan passed away peacefully on November 10, 2019 surrounded by loved ones after a long courageous battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Joyce was born in Janesville Wisconsin to Hazel and Vernon Klontz. She inherited her mother’s love of music which led her to Northwestern University where she received a Bachelor of Music in June, 1953. It was there that she met her beloved, the late Ross (Steve) Campbell and their love affair of 57 years began.
Weeks after graduation, Joyce married Steve forgoing a position, as a violinist, with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. Joyce and Steve had three daughters, Laurie (Paul), Heather (KC), Lynne, eight grandchildren, Julie (Michael), Ross (Lauren), Stephen (Kristin), Charlie (Kerry), Kenny (Amanda), Campbell, Chandler, the late Jennifer Walters and six great grandchildren.
For 58 years Joyce embraced her passion for and love of music teaching both violin and piano. She passionately served her community including a long lived affiliation with the Junior Group of Goodwill Industries of Greater Detroit, culminating in a term as President of the organization. Her commitment to Goodwill and its clients was unwavering. Joyce was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and The Delta Gamma Fraternity.
The holidays were her favorite time of year, her home filled with family, friends, laughter and love. The traditions she created will be passed down for generations.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Thank you for your prayers.
