Obituary for Joy Galbreath

Antoinette Joy Galbreath died peacefully March 26, 2020. She was 92 years old. Joy was born July 20, 1927, in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Joy and her late husband, Thomas John Galbreath, were married June 11, 1949, and spent much of their married life travelling the world. Tom’s job with Ford Motor took them to Dearborn Heights, Farmington, Buenos Aires, Birmingham, Mexico City, and West Bloomfield. Joy was a resident of Waltonwood Novi at time of her passing.

An avid gardener, she maintained a magazine spread worthy perennial garden at her West Bloomfield home. Her “can do” spirit made her an expert weeder. She inspired and assisted all her children to build and maintain their landscaping. Joy had an infectious laugh. She loved life, her family, and had her happiest times in social situations. “I don’t need more pills, I need more parties”.

She is survived by her children, John Galbreath (Jayne), Lynn Fausone (Brien), Pamela Galbreath, and Cindy Serrels, and her grandchildren, Roscoe Serrels (Sarah), Marie Murtagh (Jason), Brett Fausone, and Sarah Benson (Justin), great-grandchildren, Julianne Benson and Olivia Serrels, and her brother George (the late Gloria) Rumsey. Joy was preceded in death by her husband and her brother Edward (Dorothy) Rumsey.

A Memorial Mass will be held at a later date.

Memorials appreciated to St. Vincent de Paul.
