Obituary for Joseph S. Clancy

Joseph S. Clancy of Sterling Heights died October 25, 2020. He was 92 years old. Joseph was born May 5, 1928 in Detroit to Beatrice (nee Rogers) and Patrick Clancy. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps.

Joe and his first wife, Cecelia raised 6 children in Northwest Detroit and were very involved at St. Mary’s of Redford Parish. They then lived in Union Lake and joined St. Patrick’s Church in White Lake. They were married for 51 years. A prolific artist who enjoyed painting water colors, Joe was also an avid golfer and bowler.

Joe owned a Window and Door Hardware Manufacturing business in Ferndale which became a family business. He was able to retire at the age of 62 knowing the store was in the good hands of his family.

After Cecelia’s death in 2002, Kathleen Rogers came into Joe’s life. They enjoyed married life together until Kathleen’s death in 2018.

Joseph is survived by his children, Patrick (Betsy) Clancy, Brian (Janet) Clancy, Stephen (the late Barbara) Clancy, and John (Diane) Clancy. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Paul (Adrienne), Mark (Sokore), Andrew, Patrick, Mary Ellen, Annie Laurie, Sean, Ryan, Anthony, Kennedy, Diane, Becky, Bobby, and Melissa, great-grandchild, Noah and siblings, Jack and Robert and many nieces and nephews. Joseph is preceded in death by his wives, Cecelia Clancy and Kathleen Clancy, children, Dennis Clancy and Ann (the late Ray) Medonis, brother, Harry and sister, Mary June Montgomery.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Anastasia Church, 4571 John R., Troy, Friday, October 30th at 10am. Friends may visit at church beginning at 9am. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery in Waterford, Michigan.
