Joseph G. Juett of West Bloomfield passed away peacefully at home June 13, 2020. He was 95 years old. He is survived by his beloved wife of 72 years, Jean, and 9 children, J. Lee (Jane), Christopher (Cathy), Amy Crew (the late John), Mark (Kitty), Kevin (Gail), Jay, Molly Peters (Alan), Daniel (Siobhan), and Jean E. Bandy (James). He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Patrick. His family was the focus of his life.
He was born October 9, 1924, in Greenville, North Carolina. After serving as President of his class at MacKenzie High School, he served with honor in the United States Army in France during World War II. After the war, he attended the University of Detroit. Joe spent his entire career at the premier Machine Tool Distributor, J. Lee Hackett Company. He was an innovator in the sales field, mentoring many along his way, and finalized his career as President and sole owner of the company.
A devoted member of Legatus, he also belonged to The Detroit Athletic Club, Oakland Hills Country Club, The Recess Club, The Huron River Hunting and Fishing Club, and the Michigan North Woods Club. Volunteering was a passion for him. He gave of his time coaching Little League baseball. He also volunteered at Hospice of Michigan, Hospice of the Foot Hills/NC, Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital, and served as a Eucharistic Minister at Beaumont Hospital.
A private Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, June 19, at 12 Noon. The service will be live-streamed for those who wish to participate virtually. The link is provided above.
Mr. Juett's final resting place will be in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, Michigan.
