Obituary for John W. Zeile

John W. Zeile, a longtime resident of Clawson, died on August 21st, 2017. He was 87 years old.

John was baptized on June 8th, 1930. As an adult, he was an active, devoted member of Our Shepherd Lutheran Church in Birmingham. Previously, he worked at Trinity Lutheran Church as an elder, financial secretary, and Sunday School teacher.

John proudly served in the United States Army from May 1951 to May 1953, before he was honorably discharged. After his military service, John found his calling in education. After attaining his bachelor’s degree, he spent many years as a dedicated teacher for Farmington Hills Schools.

John married the love of his life, Eugenia “Jean” Alexy, in June 1959. They happily spent 55 years together and with their family, until her passing in 2014.

In his spare time, John assembled model airplanes and was an avid reader. He loved western movies, old classic music, and above all, his family and his Lord.

John is survived by his loving children, Kevin (Kathleen) Zeile, Mary (Steve) Domenico, Jody (John) Pawloski, and Matthew (Bonnie) Zeile. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Eugenia “Jean” Zeile, as well as by his two siblings, Shirley Wetzel and Richard Zeile.

A Funeral Service will be held at Our Shepherd Lutheran Church, 2225 E. Fourteen Mile Road (between Woodward and Coolidge), Birmingham, Michigan on Tuesday, August 29th, at 11am. Friends may visit at church beginning at 10am. Interment in Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan.
