Obituary for John W. Fulgenzi

John W. Fulgenzi of Royal Oak, died June 19, 2012. He was 96 years old. John was born August 25, 1915, in Riverton, IL, to Loreto and Priscilla Fulgenzi. He served in the US Navy Construction Battalion during WWII. John was deployed to Okinawa, Saipan, and Eniwetok. After serving in the war he returned home and began working at Riecold Chemical.

In 1953 he quit his job and started Doublejack Electric Company which still flourishes today and is run by his son, Bruce and grandsons, John and Joseph. John lived life to its fullest; he was an avid rabbit hunter and fisherman. He also played golf with his son Bruce once a week, remained independent and continued to drive until he was 95. John loved to attend his grandchildren�s events, was a good cook, and truly loved and appreciated nature.

His enthusiasm and positive attitude will be missed by his family and friends.

John is survived by his children, Susan Spears, Catherine Nesbitt, J. Bruce (Diane) Fulgenzi, and Christine (Randy) VanderWerp, and grandchildren, Michele (Frank) Bowler, Michele (Dominique) Westlake, Monica Ramos, Lisa Thomas, Andrew (Joan) Allen, Nick Allen, Katie VanderWerp, John (Lisa) Fulgenzi, Joseph Fulgenzi, Kara (Tim) Slating, and Jaclyn Fulgenzi. He is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren. John is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Katherine.

Visitation at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Rd. (between 14-15 Mile Rds.) Friday 3-8pm. Funeral at St. Thomas More Church, 4580 Adams Rd., Troy, Saturday 10am. Interment in Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, Michigan.
