Obituary for John R. Gnau, Jr.

John R. Gnau, Jr., of Bloomfield Twp., died October 9, 2012 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 82 years old. John was born March 3, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan to parents Constance (nee O�Donnell and John Russell Gnau, Sr. John attended University of Detroit Jesuit High School and College and proudly served in the United States Army National Guard.

As a successful entrepreneur, John was involved is so many things including radio, TV sales, Insurance, commercial real estate investments, political consulting, and involved with many start-up companies. He was elected to serve as a Trustee for Bloomfield Township and Chairman of the Oakland County Road Commission. John was very proud of his relationship with President Ronald Reagan, serving as his State Chairman to the 1980 Presidential campaign in Michigan and four years later asked to serve on his National Finance Committee for the 1984 re-election effort. John�s most proud work however, came through his charitable activities. He was a Grand Knight for the Knights of Columbus, Advocate for the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, active with Manresa Jesuit Retreat House, Angels Place, Box 12 Member, and Seniors Men�s Club just to name a few. John was also an avid fan of the University of Michigan Football team as a Charter Member of the Michigan Victor�s Club.

He was most proud however of the joy his twelve grandchildren gave him � they were the center of this life. On behalf of his Twelve Grandchildren, thank you God for blessing us with such an Angel.

John is survived by his devoted wife of almost 60 years, Margy (nee Maher) Gnau; five children, Katie (Tony) Interdonato, Russ (Kathy) Gnau, Michael (Linda) Gnau, Midge (Chris) Saint, Julie (Jay) Pulte and Mary Lynn; Twelve grandchildren, Paul, A.J. and Nick Interdonato, Amanda (Colin) Seguin, Kelsey Gnau, Margaret (Nick) Fluitt, Patrick Gnau, Christopher and Hayley Saint, Katie, Jaynie and Mollie Pulte. He is also survived by his siblings, Julie (Dick) Luyckx, Dayton (Renie) Gnau and Connie (Brian) Harris.

Visitation will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Rd. (between 14-15 Mile Rds.) Thursday 2-8pm. The funeral mass will be celebrated at Holy Name Church, 630 Harmon, Birmingham, Friday 10am. Friends may visit beginning at 9:30am. Interment in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Grosse Ille, Michigan.
