Obituary for John A. Roszka

John A. Roszka, a longtime resident of Detroit, died March 20, 2011, in Troy. He was 91 years old. Mr. Roszka was born January 14, 1920, to Agata (nee Gonsior) and Kasmir Roszka. He proudly served in the United States Army during WWII and was a Tool & Die Maker at the Budd Company in Detroit for 44 years until his retirement in 1984. Mr. Roszka was an active member of Transfiguration Church in Detroit where he enjoyed being an usher and working on various projects. He volunteered for Focus Hope delivering meals to shut ins and was considered a master pierogi maker. Mr. Roszka was deeply loved and will be sorely missed by many.

Mr. Roszka is survived by his children, John (Cynthia) Roszka, Jr., Joseph (Kathleen) Roszka, Jerome (Caro Lynn) Roszka, and Vicki (Denis) Duggan. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Mr. Roszka is preceded in death by his former wife, Vivien.

Visitation for Mr. Roszka will take place at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Road (between 14-15 Mile Rds.) Tuesday 1-8pm with a Rosary at 7pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Transfiguration Church, 5830 Simon K Street, Detroit, Wednesday 10am. Friends may visit at church beginning at 9:30am. Interment in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly.
