Obituary for Jeanne A. Hazard

Jeanne A. Hazard, of Auburn Hills died peacefully on December 31, 2019. She was 93 years old. Jeanne was born in a farmhouse in West Branch, Michigan, the oldest of seven children of the late Benjamin and Clara Sergent. She graduated from West Branch High School and after a several year long-distance romance with Eugene, her high school sweetheart who joined the US Air Force, they eloped to Angola, Indiana. They were married for 44 years until Eugene passed in 1995.

Jeanne devoted her life to being a loving wife, mother, doting grandmother and proud great-grandmother. During Eugene’s 22 years in the Air Force she made homes for the family in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Ohio and Guam before they eventually settled in Michigan.

Jeanne led a life of integrity and raised her family with common sense and a strong belief in always following the right path. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Warren for more than 50 years, singing in the choir and serving as a Deacon. Her greatest happiness came from spending time with her family.

Jeanne is survived by her daughters Cheri (the late Chuck) Taunt; Carol (Alan) Potocki; and Cynthia (Tom) Carter; grandchildren Dan (Erika) Hart, Jay Taunt, Brandon (Inna) Potocki, Rachel (Lance) Ferris, Claire (Arthur) Zysk, Paige and Ben Carter and six great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Joyce Kohler and brother, Jack Sergent.
