Obituary for Jay N. Winslow

Jay N. Winslow of Clawson died September 4, 2017. He was 94 years old. Jay was born January 14, 1923 in Findlay, Ohio to Mabel (nee Morse) and Leslie Winslow.

Jay was a proud American and served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He was a dedicated member of the Clawson community and enjoyed keeping in touch with his Clawson High School classmates throughout the years. Jay enjoyed providing for the squirrels and birds in his neighborhood and found much satisfaction in his last years befriending the squirrels. They would sit outside and wait for him to come out with their daily allotment of peanuts.

Jay was loved by everyone, and his generosity knew no bounds. Anyone requiring electrical, construction, or handy work just needed to call, and he would be there to do the work or support the effort. Jay lived a well-ordered life and worked into his 80’s, well beyond retirement. He was a sweet man with a dry humor. When giving cards to the special ladies in his life, he would often write poems for the occasion. His many interests included camping, woodworking, and boating.

Jay will be best remembered as a strong, gentle, kind, and generous man. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend, he was deeply loved and will be sorely missed.

Jay is survived by his children, Doug (Linda) Winslow, Mary Lynn (Tom) Shindorf, Diane (Gery) Hanser, Jack (Natalie) Winslow, and Nancy (Bart) Malencia. 11grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Kathryn Winslow.

Friends may visit at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Road (between 14-15 Mile Rds.), Friday, September 8th, 3-8pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Guardian Angels Catholic Church, 581 E. 14 Mile Road, Clawson, Saturday, September 9th at 11am. Friends may visit at church beginning at 10:30am. Burial will follow in White Chapel Cemetery, Troy. Immediately following committal services at White Chapel Cemetery a luncheon in Jay''s memory will be held at Kim's Restaurant, 102 E. Long Lake Road in Troy.

Memorials appreciated to Heart to Heart Hospice, 30800 Telegraph Rd #1850, Bingham Farms, Michigan 48025.
