Obituary for James E. Kalasky

James E. Kalasky, died September 21, 2012 at his home in Troy, surrounded by his family. He was 77 years old. Jim was born October 24, 1934, in Montgomery, West Virginia to Cora (nee Luke) and John Kalasky.

Jim was raised in Welch, West Virginia and graduated from Welch High School in 1951, where he was the senior class Secretary. While attending Welch High School he also attended McDowell Vocational School learning drafting, welding and machine shop. In 1955, Jim graduated with an engineering degree from Virginia Polytechnic Institute. Following graduation, Jim proudly served as a 1st Lieutenant in the United States Army Corps of Engineers from 1955 until his honorable discharge in 1957. He was a dedicated engineer for Case-New Holland (formerly Ford Tractor) before retiring in June of 1991. Jim faithfully volunteered his time to hospice and was a long time member of St. Columban Church in Birmingham. He will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved him.

Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Lynn Kalasky, loving children, Drew (Kyung), Tanya (Dave) Murphy, Chris (Audrey) and Matt (Becky), and grandchildren, Sarah, Nick, Kate, Ryan, Trevor and Megan. He is also survived by his sisters, Mary Weatherford, Carol Hunter, and Rita Ellison. Jim is preceded in death by his brother, Jack Kalasky.

Friends may visit at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Rd. (between 14-15 Mile Rds.) Sunday 3-7pm with funeral prayers at 7pm. Interment in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield.
