Obituary for Jacob C. Myers, Sr.
Jacob Clarence Myers, Sr. died suddenly March 21, 2018 at Sinai Grace Hospital in Detroit. He was 53 years old. Jake was born on January 15, 1965 in Frankfurt, Germany to parents Vera G. Jones and Willie “Bill” Myers.
Jake worked as a manager in the dry-cleaning business for many years and was a very talented artist and writer. He enjoyed playing backgammon and cards with his family. He liked engaging in philosophical debates and enjoyed playing many different sports, especially pool. He was involved in several pool leagues and was very competitive. Most of all, Jake enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He touched the lives of many people and will be sorely missed by all those lucky enough to have known him.
Jake is survived by his loving children, Jacob Myers, Jr., Jazmynn Myers, and Richelle Lynne Myers, by his cherished grandchildren, David Fenn III and Jaden Myers, by his beloved parents, Vera and Bill, and by his dear siblings, Carolyn Brinson, Darnell (Butch) Myers, William (Eric) Myers, Angelique Jones, and Wil Jones. Jake is also survived by his former wife, Debra Wright and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Road (Between 14 & 15 Mile Roads) on Wednesday, March 28, 2018, 5-8pm. A Funeral Service will be held at Jordan Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 13700 Puritan, Detroit, Michigan 48227 on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at 1pm. Friends may visit at church beginning at 10am. A repast will follow at church.
