Obituary for Jack M. Flechsig

Jack M. Flechsig died January 17, 2011 at his home in Bloomfield Twp. He was 88 years old. Jack was born May 30, 1922, in Detroit, to Helen (nee Mackie) and Otto Flechsig. He attended Wayne State University and was a Second Lieutenant in the United States Air Corps during WWII. Jack was a navigator, flying in 52 missions. On January 15, 1949, he married Constance McBrearty, beginning a life together that would span 62 years, bringing them 8 children and 11 grandchildren.

Jack was an Emmy Award winning Art Director for WXYZ-TV Channel 7 for 39 years, before retiring in January of 1988. He was a lifelong Puppeteer and a member of the Puppeteers of America. He was also a member of the Directors Guild of America and the Theatre Department at Wayne State University. Jack volunteered as a driver, transporting the homeless for St. Regis Parish in Bloomfield Twp. An avid boater and magician, Jack especially enjoyed spending time with his family at his cottage on Lake St. Clair. He will be deeply missed by all those that knew him.

Jack is survived by his beloved wife, Constance; loving children, Kristin (Gregory) Myers, Lisa Sabo, Jan Flechsig, Marc (the late Wanda) Flechsig, Heidi (Joseph) Moloney, Jeremy Flechsig, Andrew Flechsig, and Peer Flechsig; grandchildren Megan (Scott) Kortlandt, Lauren Myers, Beth, Garth and Celia Sabo, Brenna, Audrey, and Katie Moloney and Leigh, Jack, and Lilly Flechsig.

Funeral at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Road (between 14-15 Mile Rds.) Saturday 11am. Friends may visit Friday 3-8pm. Interment in Acacia Park Cemetery, Beverly Hills.

Memorials may be made to the Charity of Donor�s choice.
