Obituary for J. Timothy Cruice

J. Timothy Cruice, of Bloomfield Hills, died Friday evening, December 7, 2012. He was 96 years old. Tim was born on January 31, 1916 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to parents, John and Carrie Cruice. His family moved to Detroit in 1918, where he attended grade school at Visitation Parish School, and graduated from University of Detroit Jesuit High School in 1934. He continued his education at Notre Dame University and graduated in 1938.

In 1941, Tim was drafted into the Army�s 5th Division Infantry and later that year was transferred to the Air Corps. He spent five years in the Air Corp with service in England, Africa, and Italy. He was discharged in 1945 from the 15th Air Force with the rank of Major.

He was a member of St. Regis Parish and he belonged to the Birmingham Athletic Club and Detroit Hoo-Hoo Club for many years. More recently, he belonged to Stonycroft Hills Golf Club and the Heathers Club.

Tim lived a long, active life, and enjoyed playing tennis, squash and golf. He was a devoted husband to Mary Virginia (nee Keating) for 66 years. For the past three years, he never missed a dinner with her at Sunrise Assisted Living, and was in her company in his final days. He was peaceful and surrounded by loved ones when he passed away. Everyone who knew him will miss his energy, witty sense of humor, warmth, loyalty and generosity.

Tim is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Virginia; their two loving children, Terry Cruice and Kelly Cruice; daughter-in-law, Gloria Cruice, granddaughters, Amy, Angela and Marcy; great-grandchildren, Lily and Cassius; and many beloved nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his sister, Ann Caroline �Jerry� Oskin.

Visitation will be held at the Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Rd. (between 14-15 Mile Rds.) Friday 3-8pm. The funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Regis Church, Lahser at Lincoln, Bloomfield Hills, Saturday 10:30am. Friends may visit at church beginning at 10am.
