Obituary for Ingrid J. Becker

Ingrid J. Becker passed peacefully April 19, 2021 in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan after a valiant battle with cancer. She was 75 years old.

Ingrid was born on May 9, 1945 in Detroit, Michigan to Lucille McClung Becker and Otto Karl Becker. She grew up in Franklin, Birmingham, and Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, and Charlottesville, Virginia. As a child her fondest memories were with her family boating on Lake St. Clair, swimming, and taking long drives through the Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia. She attended Bloomfield Country Day School and Elmira College in New York where she met her husband, William Bartlam. Together they raised their two children in Maryland and Michigan.

Ingrid was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed her beloved family immensely, including spending time with her 27 nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was active in her church and loved her Bible study, cooking, gardening, and reading. She rescued many animals and lovingly cared for them; her beloved pets were a comfort to her in her final months. She adored her grandchildren who will fondly remember their Omi for her gentle and unwavering love, her laughter, wit, and inner strength.

Ingrid is survived by her children Inga (Andrew) Sweet, Karl Bartlam, and step-son Christopher (Amy) Haughton; her grandchildren Hanna, Emily and Ben Sweet, Isabelle Bartlam, and Breanne, Kailynn, and Connor Haughton; brothers Otto K. (Diane) Becker, Jr. and Rudolf B. (Carolyn) Becker; sisters-in-law Judy Haughton and Susan Stefanick. She was predeceased by her sisters Carol (Eldon) Avery, Marian (Robert) Smith, and sister-in-law Linda (Randy) Gilmore.
