Obituary for Ina May Breitfelder

Ina M. Breitfelder of Bloomfield Hills, MI quietly passed away on Thursday November 5th, 2020. Ina was born on June 17, 1936 in Detroit Michigan to Henry (b. 1901) and Eva (b.1903) Hofer but spent many of her formative years in both Romeo, MI and Centerline, MI.

Ina was a graduate of Busch High School as well as Wayne State University after which she began a career in nursing at Detroit Harper Hospital. A profession which would take her around the world and help form many of Ina’s most cherished friendships.

A lifelong fan of University of Michigan football, Ina was also an avid gardener and entertainer who loved music, the arts and culture. Ina’s style of dress and decoration was timeless and aligned closer to Avant Gard than eccentric. Family photos and stories of the holidays spent at Ina’s will be looked upon and recalled with favor for many years to come.

Ina was well known for her glowing smile and contagious laugh. Although typically reserved, Ina’s sense of humor led to many great memories with her family and friends.

Ina is preceded in death by her loving husband of 23 years, Jerome Breitfelder (b.1936) who passed away just two short months prior. Ina and Jerry shared a mutual admiration for one another, a strong work ethic and love for their family and friends.

Ina is survived by her loving older sister and closest friend Delores Hall (b.1930) of Royal Oak, MI as well as a large extended family to whom “Aunt Ina” was an Aunt, Great Aunt and Great-Great Aunt to three generations of adoring family. Ina is also survived by her step-children Bill of San Diego, CA and Carol Ann of Chicago, IL.

Ina’s inspiring zest for life was only matched by her generosity and unwavering love and support for all those she called family or friend.

Ina’s final resting place will be at the White Chapel Memorial Cemetery in Troy, MI as well as in the hearts of each person who has ever had the privilege of knowing her.
