Obituary for Gloria J. McEachern Wiggins

Gloria J. McEachern Wiggins of Rochester Hills, formerly of Bloomfield Hills, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 18, 2020 surrounded by her loving family. She was 93 years old. Gloria was born on March 14, 1927 to Henry and Adeline Angeli in Detroit, Michigan.
Gloria was twice blessed as a devoted wife of the late James F. McEachern for 38 years and the late Frederick B. Wiggins for 19 years. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend and will be greatly missed.

Gloria is survived by her children Robert McEachern (Laura), Linda Ingraham (Blair), Marianne Peck (Jim), Jean Wiggins Lewis, Tim Wiggins (Debbie), Chris Wiggins (Anne-Marie), Dennis Wiggins (Carrie), Nina Walters (late Bob), Maria Mularoni (Dave), Mike Wiggins (Kim), Margaret Fabeck (John), Larry McEachern (Carol), proud grandmother of 22 and dear aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Gloria’s faith and her family were very important to her. She was a lifelong devout Catholic, and a parishioner of St. Hugo of the Hills Catholic Church for over 56 years. Not a day went by that she did not express her gratitude and love for God.

While raising her family in the earlier years, Gloria served the church and community. She was active as an Eucharist Minister, Sunday reader, pre-school religious teacher, Den Mother, Brownie Leader and Garden Club member.

When her children were older, Gloria combined her love of writing with her creative marketing abilities and focused her career efforts in post-secondary, allied health education. She was a pioneer in upholding accreditation standards, shaped school policies and procedures and developed numerous marketing strategies. Her contributions will be long-lasting in this industry.

During her retirement years, Gloria enjoyed her winters in Florida with her husband Fred Wiggins and was active in writing and completing two family historical publications, Windows into the Past and Life’s Journey into Faith, spanning five generations. Gloria counted her blessings each day and expressed often how fortunate she felt about those in her life. She especially cherished the relationship with her grandchildren and delighted in their educational, personal and career successes.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Hugo of the Hills Main Church, 2215 Opdyke Road, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, 48304. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and St. Hugo’s restrictions, the funeral mass will be limited to family.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Immaculate Heart of Mary (IHM) Sisters, Mother House 610 West Elm Ave. Monroe, MI 48162-7909.
