Obituary for Gerald W. Trabbic

Gerald (Jerry) W. Trabbic, age 90, died peacefully in his sleep on December 1st, 2021 at Grace Premier Assisted Living & Memory Care in Chesterfield, Michigan. He was born December 5th, 1930 in Toledo, Ohio, to the late James M. and Maude L. Trabbic. He was raised, along with his four siblings, on a farm in Monroe County, Michigan.

After graduating high school, Gerald attended Michigan State University and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Education and a Master’s Degree in Agricultural Engineering. He served as a First Lieutenant in the United States Army for two years in Germany. After leaving the Army, Jerry began his career at the A. O. Smith Corporation. His work took him on international travels to South America and Europe selling silos. In 1964 he became the Far East Representative for the J. l. Case Company. Based in Hong Kong, he sold farm and construction equipment in many countries of eastern and southern Asia, Australia, and New Zealand. After returning to Michigan, he married Penelope Ann Miller in September of 1967. He began an engineering and sales career with Eaton Corporation at their Heavy Duty Truck Component Sales Division in Southfield, Michigan. After a rewarding career of over 30 years, he retired to Harsens Island, Michigan, enjoyed many international travels with his wife, Penny, and time spent with his beloved daughters and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Penelope A. Trabbic, his daughters, Kimberly A. (Joseph Casteel) Carlson and Cheri L. (William) Cosnowski, Jr., his grandson, William Cosnowski, III, his granddaughter, Ariel M. Cosnowski, and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his brothers, James (Mary) Trabbic and John (Rita) Trabbic, his sisters, Margarite (Arthur) Shaw and Patricia (Richard) Kwiatkowski.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staffs of Grace Premier Assisted Living & Memory Care and Custom Hospice for their loving care of Jerry in his final months.

The family will receive friends and relatives at Lynch and Sons (1368 N. Crooks Road, Clawson, MI 48017) on Tuesday, December 7th from 4-7 pm. A service of death and resurrection will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, December 8th at Lynch and Sons, followed by interment at White Chapel Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dr. Paul A Carlson (Jerry’s late Son-in-law) Memorial Diabetes Fund at the University of Washington.
