Obituary for George Tobias Wega

George Tobias Wega of Birmingham, passed away peacefully with his family by his side, November 17, 2021. He was 83 years old. George was born August 29, 1938, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Cecilia (nee Kelly) and Francis Wega, the tenth of sixteen children.

George proudly served in the United States Navy from 1955-1959 and was a machinist in the automotive industry.

Throughout his life, George loved spending time outdoors camping and building bird houses. During his free time, he enjoyed solving jigsaw puzzles and baking pies. His favorite games were horseshoes, pool, golf, volleyball, and softball. George was affiliated and an avid supporter of the Loyal Order of the Moose, American Legion, Fraternal Order of the Eagles, and all of their charitable efforts.

George is survived by his beloved wife, Victoria and adoring children, Victoria (Kenneth) Paine, George (Lois Day)Wega Jr., and Daniel (Lisa Riley Wega)Wega, He is also survived by his grandchildren, Richard (Emil) Anaman, Steven(Ashley) Wega, Jennifer Paine, Ashley Bossick, Sarah (Joseph Inglett)Wega, Mary Alice (Tracy) VanFleet, Hope Anderson, Nathan Wega, Christopher Wega, Kathryn Wega, and Jackson McElhenney, and great grandchildren, Keirsten Wega, Hailey Wega, Logan Wega, Alice Bossick, Jospeh Inglett, Sophia Inglett, Isabella Wega, Sofia Anderson, Daniel Anderson, Nathan Wega Jr., and Aiden Wega. George is preceded in death by his son Michael Wega and parents Francis and Cecelia Wega.

Friends may visit at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Road (between 14-15 Mile Roads), Sunday, November 21st, 2-6pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Christ Our Light Catholic Church, 3077 Glouchester Drive, Troy, Monday, November 22nd, at 10:30am. Friends may visit at church beginning at 10am.
