Obituary for Frank C. Vivian

Frank C. Vivian of Royal Oak went home to be with his Lord and reunited with the love of his life, Doris Vivian, on January 20, 2017. He was 88 years old. Frank was born November 8, 1928, in Detroit, to Mangher and Catherine Vivian.

A graduate of Highland Park High School, Frank went on to serve with the military police in Japan during World War II. After the war, he married Doris on October 8, 1952, in New York and it was televised on the Bride & Groom show. Frank worked as a Wilson’s Milkman before purchasing two laundromats in the mid-1960s, one in Dearborn and the other in Garden City.

Frank was happiest when he was with his family; he also loved winters in Florida, where he enjoyed the beautiful scenery and solitude of the water.

Frank is survived by his children, Laura (Mark) Beery of Lebanon, Tennessee, Kathleen (Keith) Hakala of Royal Oak, Michigan, Robert (DeeAnna) Vivian of White Lake, Michigan, and Mary (Peter) Calverley of Royal Oak, Michigan. He is also survived by his grandchildren who lovingly referred to him as “Papa”, Rachel and Matthew Beery, Karalyn (Sam) Snay, Erik (Melissa) Hakala, Michael Hakala, Callie and Mollie Vivian, Paul Calverley, and Erica (Kevin) Webster and great-grandchildren, Vivian and Aaron Snay and Haelyn and Ben Webster. Frank is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 61 years, Doris Mae Vivian.

Private services have been held.
