Obituary for Fen Tze Hsieh

On Friday, December 4, 2020, Fen Tze (Huang) Hsieh, loving wife and mother of 2 children, unexpectedly passed away at the age of 77.

Fen was born on June 14, 1943 in Tokyo, Japan to Shou Huang and Feng-Chin Wang. A few years after birth, she moved to Tainan, Taiwan with her family where she grew up, attended school, met her best friends for life, and graduated from the Private Tainan Junior College of Home Economics (what is now known today as Tainan University of Technology).

From Taiwan, Fen moved to the United States (Brooklyn, NY) in the summer of 1974 with her brothers and her nephews. She studied patterns and design at the Fashion Institute of Technology and worked as a seamstress.

In January 1976, she married Harry Hsieh. They raised two daughters, Shirley and Tina. Fen had many passions and interests which included fashion and design, flower arrangements, arts and crafts, travel, and cooking while seeing the aesthetic beauty in all things. In her spare time, she created beautiful life-like paper flowers and floral arrangements for the home. She would always happily assist friends, family and neighbors with altering and creating clothes and other items.

Known for her keen eye in fashion, Fen enjoyed taking walks at the mall to admire the new fashionable clothes (and to check on any good deals). She was also known for her captivating story-telling, quick wit, humor, and her kind and compassionate spirit. Most recently, she enjoyed her role as a doting grandmother and buying her grandson all the clothes in the world.

Fen was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Ruey-Shan. She is survived by her husband Harry, her two daughters, Shirley (Vincent) and Tina, her grandson Alexander along with her eldest brother, Suei-Rong (Lily) and several nephews and a niece.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at 10:00 AM EST at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home 1368 N. Crooks Road, Clawson, MI 48017. Flowers may be sent directly to the funeral home. Services will also be live streamed and recorded. The link to the live stream is below:
