Obituary for Eugene M. Hennigan

Eugene M. Hennigan of Royal Oak, died peacefully at home April 5, 2011. He was 87 years old. Mr. Hennigan was born April 28, 1923, in Detroit, to Matilda (nee Mackey) and Charles Hennigan. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Second World War and went on to become an analyst for the Department of the Army.

Mr. Hennigan was a member of the American Legion Post 374 in Berkley, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Fr. Solanus Chapter of the Ancient Order of Hibernians. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, he was deeply loved and will be sorely missed.

Mr. Hennigan is survived by his children, Kathleen (Michael) McEvoy, Timothy (Carol) Hennigan, and Colleen (the late Robert) Noel. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Erin, John, Kaitrin, Mark, Timothy, Patrick, Emily, and Cara, sister, Ruth Minnick and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Mr. Hennigan is preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Hennigan and son, John Hennigan.

Visitation will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Road (between 14-15 Mile Rds.) Friday 3-8pm with a prayer service at 7pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Columban Church, 1775 Melton, Birmingham, Saturday 11am. Friends may visit at church beginning at 10:30am.

Interment in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield.
