Obituary for Esther Kennedy Duncan Chaney

Esther Kennedy Duncan Chaney died January 21, 2017 in Clarkston, Michigan. She was 102 years old. Esther was born on November 22, 1914 in Toronto, Canada to parents Sarah Anne (nee Carmichael) and Robert Duncan.

Esther graduated high school in Detroit and worked for 45 years at Mary Jane Flower Shop in Royal Oak. Esther finally learned how to drive at the age of 68 and continued to drive until she was 92.

Esther enjoyed baking and was best known for her zucchini bread. She loved Madame Alexander dolls and her Dickens Christmas Village. Esther loved most, however, spending time with her family. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister and friend. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.

Esther is survived by her loving children, Wallace Chaney and Beverly Schell and her cherished grandchildren, Steven Chaney, Michelle Zarghami, Dawn Groh, Billy Cunningham, Brian Cunningham, Scott Chaney, and Michael Chaney. She is also survived by her 18 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great grandchildren. Esther is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edward, her son Robert, and her sister Bobbie Martin.

A Funeral Service will be held Friday 12noon at Starr Presbyterian Church, 1717 W. 13 Mile Road, Royal Oak, Michigan 48073. Friends may visit beginning at 11am. Burial will follow in White Chapel Cemetery, Troy
