Obituary for Eric Lee Mayberry

Eric Lee Mayberry, died September 21, 2010, at his home in Williamston. He was 50 years old. Eric was born October 24, 1959, in Madison, Indiana, to Helen and William Mayberry. He graduated from Purdue University in 1982 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Eric was an active member of Kirk in the Hills in Bloomfield Hills and was also involved with Habitat for Humanity and Care House of Oakland County.

Eric worked for 28 years with General Motors. From 1997-2000, he lived in Germany in a small town surrounded by hills called Huensteen-Goersroth. While in Germany he worked as an International Service Personnel for the HVAC Powertrain Cooling SMT, where he was busy with the Global Epsilon program. His work residence was at the GME Tech Center in Russelsheim, Germany. On Friday evenings he enjoyed beer and wine tasting and he loved skiing in Austria.

Eric�s current title at GM was AVDC System Architect-Thermal Advanced Vehicle Development. Just prior to his death he was working on next generation hybrid and electric vehicles. Eric�s legacy will live on in the new technology that he helped make possible in future vehicles. Eric was a thorough, meticulous, perfectionist engineer and he was instrumental in the successful launch of the current Chevrolet Malibu.

Eric enjoyed the outdoors, camping, sports, travel and classic cars. He was an avid piano player and was well known at the Meadowbrook Music Festival. He will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Eric is survived by his beloved partner, Robert Geusic, father, William Mayberry and brothers, Kirk (Debra) Mayberry and Greg Mayberry. He is also survived by his nephew and niece, Todd and Page Mayberry. Eric is preceded in death by his mother, Helen Jean Mayberry and Shirley Jean Carlson-Mayberry.

Visitation at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Road (between 14-15 Mile Rds.) Wednesday 4-8pm. Funeral at Kirk in the Hills, 1340 W. Long Lake Road, Bloomfield Hills, Thursday 11am. Interment in Kirk in the Hills.
