Elizabeth Ellen �Betty� Everson

Elizabeth �Betty� Everson died peacefully at home on Saturday May 5, 2012 in the care of her son and daughter. She was 86 years old. Betty was born on October 27, 1925 in Stoughton, Wisconsin, a small town just outside Madison. She was the daughter of H. Grassie and Agnes Terry and is preceded in death by her brother, Henry Terry. She was raised by her grandmother Clara Terry.

Betty attended and graduated from the University of Wisconsin in Madison with a degree in home economics. She went on to teach in Koehler, Wisconsin before she came to Detroit. She had met her beloved late husband William �Bill� Everson in grade school but romance for them blossomed after the war and after they both attended college. Betty was married to Bill on June 25th, 1949 and started a lifelong love of 58 years.

Moving to Minneapolis in the early 60�s, Betty was an active, loving mother and homemaker, raising children and attending social gatherings with Bill. They moved to Birmingham, Michigan in 1966 and bought the house she lived in for the rest of her life.

She was an avid reader of mystery novels and shared her passion with others. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran church for many years. Betty had a kind, compassionate and gentle spirit, caring deeply about her family, friends and neighbors. She had a full and varied life and, more than once, said how much she enjoyed her senior years.

Betty Everson is survived by her children, Christopher Everson and Margaret Everson Thele.

A memorial tribute to Betty Everson will be held on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at 11:30 am in the chapel of Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1800 W. Maple Road, Birmingham, Michigan 48009.
