Obituary for Elaine G. Rosen
Elaine G. Rosen of Bloomfield, Michigan died peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on October 27, 2020. She was 68 years old. Elaine was born on April 23, 1952 in Detroit to parents Catherine (nee Joseph) and Zack Elias.
Elaine graduated from Marian High School in 1970 and received her bachelor’s degree from Oakland University. She then went on to earn her masters in social work from Wayne State University.
Elaine had a broad career in social work that spanned from helping children, to ex-convicts, to the elderly, and everything in-between. She worked with adolescents at Pontiac State and as an administrator for St. Claire, Sanilac, and Huron counties. She also worked as an administrator for Madison Heights Hospital. Among her most cherished roles was working with hospice patients facing the difficulty of terminal illness and their surviving family members navigating the challenging path of grief and mourning.
Along with her extensive career, Elaine was an avid volunteer. She helped Syrian refugees and enjoyed volunteering for the Capuchin Soup Kitchen - On The Rise Bakery. She ran groups for ex-convicts to work on being in touch with their feelings. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was deeply loved and will be sorely missed. It is safe to say that for Elaine, caring for others was the mission of her life. She carried out her mission with a level of devotion that sets the standard for compassionate care.
Elaine is survived by her beloved husband, Todd Rosen, her children, Catherine (Raoul) Sreenivasan and Jonathon (Rossie) Baugh. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Jaiden Sreenivasan, Maya Sreenivasan, and Simon Baugh, her sister, Kathy (Mike) Coon, her niece and nephews, Jason Coon, Nicole Holloway, and Zack Azzam. Elaine is preceded in death by her sister Mary Alexis (the late Jacob) Azzam.
Visitation will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home 1368 N. Crooks Road, Clawson, Michigan 48017 on Thursday, October 29, 2020 from 3-8pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 4580 N Adams Rd, Troy, MI 48098 on Friday, October 30, 2020 at 11am.
