Obituary for Eduardo Rapicano

Eduardo Rapicano, born in Boscotrecase, Italy on January 4, 1944, died June 15, 2021 at Royal Oak Beaumont Hospital after a long battle with lung cancer. His wife of 50 years, Marilyn (McGowen), and his daughters Enrica, Sarah, and Lisa were by his side. He is also survived by two sisters and a brother residing in Italy.

As a young adult in Italy, Eduardo worked in his father’s barrel making company. He also served in the Italian Air Force. In 1968, he immigrated to Detroit and worked almost 50 years with his family as a cook at Pasquale’s Restaurant in Royal Oak before retiring. He was proud of his dual citizenship with Italy and the US after becoming a US citizen in 1999.

Eduardo enjoyed long daily walks and growing his own tomatoes for fresh sauce. He spent much of his time reading about world history and learning foreign languages. He was a diehard fan of the Italian national soccer team and cried when Italy won the World Cup in 2006. Everyone who met Eduardo would tell you that he especially loved telling stories about the old country.

Visitation will be Thursday, June 17, 2021 from 5-8pm at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Road (between 14-15 Mile Rds.).

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the American Cancer Society, so others may some day be cured of this disease.
