Obituary for Edmond J. Dilworth, Jr.

Edmond J. Dilworth, Jr. of Bloomfield Hills, passed away peacefully May 2, 2012. He was 79 years old. Edmond was born September 29, 1932, in Detroit, to Florence (nee Baker) and Edmond Dilworth, Sr.

Edmond was a graduate of University of Detroit High School, the College of the Holy Cross, and the University of Detroit Law School. He was a naval officer from 1954-1957, and spent his career with General Motors, the majority as assistant general counsel in charge of labor and personnel. Edmond represented General Motors in national labor negotiations from 1968-1987, and was the first general counsel of Saturn. He finished his career as group counsel to Chevrolet Pontiac Canada Group of GM and after retiring from GM he spent several years in the Birmingham law firm of Hardy, Lewis, and Page.

A longtime member of Holy Name Parish in Birmingham, Edmond was a member of the Ushers Club and a charter member of the Parish Council. An avid golfer and skier, he was also a lover of opera. He was deeply loved and will be sorely missed by many.

Edmond is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Margaret, and children, Kathleen (Mike Studnicki), Sharon (David Baker), Mary, and Edmond (Michele). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Kelly, Jennifer, Patrick, Edmond IV, Lucas, Victor, and Alexandra; siblings, Norman (Maureen), Mike (Patricia), Dennis, and Julie (Jim Shea), and many loving nieces and nephews. Edmond is preceded in death by his sister, Donna (Jim Ryan).

Visitation at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Road (between 14-15 Mile Rds.) Monday 4-8pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Name Church, 630 Harmon Street, Birmingham, Tuesday 11am. Friends may visit at church beginning at 10:30am.
