Obituary for Donna M. O'Connor

Donna M. O’Connor, a long-time resident of Troy, died June 18, 2018. She was 87 years old. Donna was born October 10, 1930 in Collegeville, Minnesota to Marie (nee Neussendorfer) and John Eisenschenk.

At the age of 6, Donna and her family moved to Michigan. She graduated from Little Flower High School in Royal Oak in 1948, and Mercy School of Nursing in Detroit in 1951.

On January 5, 1952 she married the love of her life, James E. O’Connor at Holy Name Church in Birmingham. This was the beginning of their love story that would span 66 years and bring them 9 children, 18 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.

Donna was a charter member of St. Thomas More Church in Troy. She loved to travel. Donna worked at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Pontiac as a registered nurse. Her true vocation and real passion came from being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be remembered most for her love and devotion to her family.

Donna is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 66 years James E. O’Connor and brother Valerian Eisenschenk. Donna is survived by her sister, Vera (Bruce) Miller, her children; Suzannah Guilbault, Laura O’Connor, Maureen O’Connor, Shirley (William) Potter, James (Yvonne) O’Connor, Thomas (Kelly) O’Connor, Patrick (Lisa) O’Connor, William (Kelly) O’Connor, and Nancy (Steve Kalinowski) O’Connor, her grandchildren; Brian (Sandra) Guilbault, Lauren Guilbault, Rebecca (Jimmy) Kauffman Arnold, Timothy Cloutier, Collin (Beth) Potter, Nicholas Potter, Blake Potter, Carrie O’Connor, Fr. Michael O’Connor, LC, Joseph (Julia) O’Connor, David (Leticia) O’Connor, Therese O’Connor, Seamus O’Connor, Adam O’Connor, Ronald Smart, Megan O’Connor, Benjamin O’Connor, and Avery O’Connor, and her great-grandchildren; Louis, Miles, Austin, Jackson, Josiah, James, Michael, Nicholas, Cecilia, Ashleigh, Nathan, and Garrett.

Visitation for friends and family will be at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Road, Clawson, Thursday, June 21st, 2-8pm with a Rosary and Sharing of Memories at 7pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Thomas More Church, 4580 Adams Road, Troy, Friday, June 22nd, at 11am. Church visitation for friends and family will begin at 10:30am.
