Obituary for Donald F. Condit

Donald F. Condit
Faith, Family, Friends, and Country

Don’s faith was solidly formed beginning at Shrine Church and Grade School. The University of Detroit High School and the University of Notre Dame. He followed those principles and beliefs throughout his life. Despite confusion, his humbleness and witty humor were present until the very end of his life.

His devotion to his family, father Frank, mother Catherine, and his beloved brother, Dick (the late Martha) were foremost in his life until their passing. Don cherished his wife, Carol, daughters, Cathy (John), Patty (Andy), son, Ed (Molly), and his six precious grandchildren, Evan, Amy, Adam, Hannah, Elise, and Spencer. He was ever present and loving to his extended families, the Condit’s, Lemke’s and West’s.

Many loyal friendships, some extending 70 years, continued from Don’s educational years, the Navy, business and industry, his long career teaching at the university level and social contacts. We are ever grateful to many of his family and friends who supported Don and his family throughout his decline with dementia.

He quietly honored his loyalty to country by volunteering as a naval officer in Vietnam, and serving as an agent in the FBI. He never wavered in his love and support for the United States. We ask that you honor that loyalty by praying for healing and peace in the United States and in the world. Instead of flowers, consider a donation to The University of Detroit High School Scholarship Fund, Covid Relief, or the organization of your choice in his memory.

A Celebration of Don’s life will be held at St. Regis Church, 3695 Lincoln, Bloomfield Hills, Friday, February 5th at 10:30am followed by burial in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield. The Funeral Mass will be livestreamed for those unable to attend. Please follow this link:

A recording of the Mass will also be available late afternoon on Friday.

“All is well, Safely Rest, God is Nigh.”

Rest in peace, dear husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
