Obituary for Dolores "Chick" Burch-Taylor

Dolores Burch-Taylor, “Chick”, longtime resident of Lathrup Village for 40 years died unexpectedly on Friday, July 14, 2017 in a car accident after a ruptured aneurism. She was only a few miles from home, in a happy mood. She was 78 years old.

Chick was born on May 26, 1939 in Queens, NY. She lived, loved and married there as well. She was the 3rd child, and only daughter of Irvin and Mildred Hitzler. Her three brothers adored her and nicknamed her “Chick” because of her fluffy blonde hair.

Chick met James Walter Burch while working at the Bowery Savings Bank of Manhattan and they married in New York on September 1, 1963. They moved to Troy, Michigan in 1967, so Jim could work at Ford World Headquarters. She succeeded at the hardest job, raising four children who meant the world to her.

After James’ death in 1999, she met an amazing Englishman in Lions Head, Canada. Bob Taylor and she were married with their closest family and friends on October 28, 2006. They enjoyed Lions Head in the summer and Lathrup Village and traveling in the winter.

Chick is survived by her loving children Pam (Tom) Stave of East Lansing, MI, Cynthia (Mike) Trombley of St. Johns, MI, James Burch of New Jersey, and Priscilla (Matt) Keller of Leesburg, VA. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Olivia, Matthew, Nicholas, Madison, Conner, Ryan, and Theodor”able”, her husband Robert and his sisters, children and grandchildren in England. She is also survived by her dear brothers, Irv (Joan) Hitzler of Long Island, NY and Ronald “Butch” (Liz) Hitzler of Colorado and many nieces and nephews whom she adored. She now sits at the feet of our Lord with her late husband, James Burch, her parents, Mildred and Irvin, her brother, Gilbert (Janet) Hitzler of NY, two nephews, and several friends.

Visitation will be held at Lynch and Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Road, Clawson (Between 14 & 15 Mile Roads) Thursday, July 20th, 3-8pm. A Funeral Service will be held at Ascension of Christ Lutheran Church, 16935 W. 14 Mile Road, Beverly Hills, Michigan 48025, Friday at 11am. Friends may visit at church beginning at 10:30am. A luncheon will follow. A graveside committal will be held following the luncheon at Glen Eden Memorial Park Cemetery, Livonia. All are welcome to attend.

Memorials donations can be made in her honor to the American Brain Tumor Association, 8550 W. Bryn Mawr Ave. Ste. 550 Chicago, IL 60631, in honor of Chick’s first husband, James.
