Obituary for David M. Dunshee

David Mansfield Dunshee of Birmingham, died October 14, 2016 at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. He was 67 years old. David was born January 1, 1949 in Glenview, Illinois to Constance (nee McArthur) and William Dunshee.

He was raised in Glenview with 3 sisters, a dog and a cat. David was offered an opportunity to leave high school early by Michigan State University. He graduated with High Honors in Honors College while working full time for Systems at the MSU computer lab. He was moved to the Detroit area after working for a small computer research company in Okemos that was purchased by Burroughs.

David earned his MBA from Oakland University and thoroughly enjoyed the diversity of cultures in this area. Unisys moved him to Minnesota where he continued to work in research. However, his love of a Michigan cabin brought him back to Michigan. He obtained work in computers for local firms and retired from Oakland Community College as Director of IT.

David enjoyed building a sailboat in his family room and he loved Michigan, but his greatest joy came from spending time with his family. A devoted husband, father, son, and friend, David was deeply loved and will be sorely missed.

David is survived by his beloved wife, Carel Dunshee and children, Ben Dunshee and Katherine Dunshee. He is also survived by his sisters, Joan (Bill) Arnett, Susan Dunshee, and Marian (Terrance) Mahoney and his 21 year old cat, Winter.

A Funeral Service will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Road (between 14-15 Mile Rds.) Wednesday, October 19th, at 11am. Friends may visit Tuesday, October 18th, 3-8pm.

Memorials may be made to Friends of Baldwin Public Library, 300 W. Merrill, Birmingham, Michigan 48009.
