Obituary for David A. Simmons

David A. Simmons died peacefully October 3, 2021. He was 60 years old. He was born November 15, 1960, in Royal Oak, Michigan, to parents Alex and Mary Jane Simmons.

A 1982 graduate of Michigan State University, David went on to receive a Master’s Degree in Construction Management. He worked for Midwest Cabinets in Detroit before relocating to Phoenix, Arizona in 2004, where he worked most recently for The Home Depot.

David enjoyed the simplest of life’s pleasures – like cider and donuts on a fall day and the first snowfall of the season – and he had a gift for sharing such moments with others. He also enjoyed music and singing in the choir for The Casa in Phoenix was one of his favorite activities.

Most of all, David loved the many special people who helped shape his life. He never forgot a birthday or anniversary and brightened such days for many by recounting a memory they both shared.

He is survived by his brother Brad Simmons, godson Robert Andress, longtime companion Richard Holston, and many loving friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Scott Simmons.

Visitation will take place at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Road, Friday, October 8th, 3-8pm. A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Catholic Church, 32340 Pierce Road, Beverly Hills, Saturday, October 9th, 11:30am. Friends may visit at church beginning at 11am. The Mass will also be live-streamed and the link is below.

Memorials appreciated to the Franciscan Renewal Center, Casa Choir 5802 E. Lincoln Dr., Scottsdale, Arizona, 85253 or the Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center, 2901 N. Central Ave., Suite 160, Phoenix, Arizona 85012.
