Obituary for Darell L. Stewart

Darell L. Stewart of Lake Orion, died peacefully August 2, 2011, at William Beaumont Hospital in Troy. He was 61 years old. Darell was born January 12, 1950, in Pontiac to Ruby (nee Beech) and Stanley Stewart and had fond memories of growing up on Mott Street with his boyhood buddies. He was proud to have played football for Waterford Kettering High School.

Darell enjoyed good food and good friends. He loved vacationing in Northern Michigan, canoeing on the Rifle River with his family and friends as well as hunting with his dad and brother on an annual getaway. Darell was an avid sports fan. He loved the MSU Spartans (green and white were his favorite colors), the Detroit Tigers, the Detroit Red Wings, and he remained a loyal fan of the Detroit Lions.

Darell had a rock and roll soul and enjoyed listening to music and attending concerts. He also enjoyed gambling and donated a lot of money to Las Vegas on several of his trips there. Darell spent many good times with his golfing and bowling buddies from the Ford family and he loved all of his Dog Friends.

Darells family is grateful for the great care and friendship provided by Dr. Huben as well as everyone who provided care and companionship while Darell was at Troy Beaumont Hospital.

Everyone should have a Darell in their lives. A gift that is priceless, he was deeply loved and will be sorely missed.

Darell is survived by his beloved wife, Kathleen (nee McCleish), and son, Justin (Laura) Stewart. He is also survived by 3 siblings and his special angel, Vera McCleish.
