Obituary for Cynthia M. Elrod

Cynthia Marie Elrod of Rochester Hills died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family. She was 64 years old. Cynthia was born on January 11, 1957 in Detroit, Michigan to parents, Josephine (nee Carnoskes) and Phillip Nowicki.

Cynthia enjoyed a successful career in finance within the steel industry during which she returned to school to complete her bachelor’s degree in 2001. She was well regarded by her work family in her role as Assistant Controller at Kenwal Steel. Cynthia was also a devoted parishioner of St. Irenaeus and an active member of St Vincent de Paul. She had a love of reading, travel, puzzle games, cross country skiing, and enjoying time with her family and friends.

Cynthia was a tireless fighter who succumbed to an illness that may have taken her body but never beat her spirit. Cynthia will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, supportive sister, a dear friend, and mentor to all those who knew her. Her family and friends will cherish the memories of the times when she was so full of life. Her presence will continue to guide and inspire them as they navigate their lives without her. She is forever in our hearts and will be greatly missed.

Cynthia is survived by her beloved husband Gary. She is also survived by her loving children, Gary, Jr., (Jodie), and her dear siblings, James (Gloria) Nowicki and Susan Nowicki (Steve Sessions). Cynthia is preceded in death by her parents Philip and Josephine Nowicki and her sister Nancy Karn.
