Obituary for Constantin Grigorean

Constantin Grigorean of Southfield died November 13, 2018. He was 77 years old. Constantin was born August 25, 1941 in the small village of Soloneţ, located in the Bucovina region of Romania. He was the youngest child of parents Aurora and Gheorghe Grigorean.

In his life he was very ambitious and determined to get a good education and better life for himself and his family. He attended primary school in Costâna and finished high school at Stefan Cel Mare in Suceava.

He then went on to Colegiul Sanitar in Botoșani after which he worked as a physician’s assistant for eighteen years in Romania. Upon emigrating to the United States in 1981 he enrolled in college at Oakland Community College and became a respiratory therapist, working at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak for eighteen years. He enjoyed raising racing pigeons, working in his large garden, writing poetry, dancing, singing, and sports. He was a member of St. George Orthodox Church in his home town of Southfield, Michigan.

His life was not easy but through his extraordinary will and determination he was able to make a good life for himself and his family. He was a principled and disciplined man and was well respected by all who knew him. He now says goodbye to his wife Betty, his entire family, and his friends whom he loved very much. He will be forever missed and loved.

Constantin is survived by his wife of 51 years Erzsebet “Betty” Szasz Grigorean, daughters Gabriela Grigorean and Cristina (Mike) Wright, grandson Gabriel Wright and granddaughter Aurora Wright. He is also survived by his brother, Aurel Grigorean and sister, Elena Flutur. Constantin is preceded in death by his sister, Domnica “Doris” Stanley.

Friends may visit at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Road (between 14-15 Mile Rds.) Thursday, November 15th 4-8pm with a Saracusta at 7:30pm. A Funeral Service will be held at St. George Romanian Orthodox Cathedral, 18405 W Nine Mile Rd, Southfield, Friday November 16th at 10am. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Detroit.
