Obituary for Clarence L. Severn

Clarence L. Severn, a long-time resident of Royal Oak, died September 13, 2010. He was 91 years old. Clarence was born November 4, 1918 in Grant Twp., Michigan to parents, Fannie (nee David) and Frank Severn. On May 27, 1939, he married Velma H. Abbe and they began their lifelong commitment to one another. During the 1950�s and early 1960�s Clarence and Velma owned the Dairy Queen in Royal Oak. Clarence was also a millwright and grinder for 30 years at the Excello Corp. in Highland Park. He was an active member and Elder of Troy Oaks Community of Christ Church in Troy. Clarence enjoyed hunting, fishing, and wood working but especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and helping his neighbors. Clarence will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him. A special thank you to Dawn and everyone from Beaumont Hospice who cared for Clarence during his final months.

Mr. Severn is survived by his children, Jerry (Pam) Severn, Iris (Dannie) Kimmons and Richard (Jo Anne) Severn; daughter-in-law, Joan Severn; 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 9 great-great grandchildren and sister, Leta Smith. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 70 years, Velma Severn and son, Donald Severn.

Funeral from Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Rd. (between 14-15 Mile Rds.) Friday 11am. Friends may visit beginning at 10am. Visitation Thursday 3-8pm. Interment in Oakland Hills Cemetery, Novi.
