Obituary for Christine McClellan

Christine McClellan died June 1, 2019, surrounded by her adoring family. She was 72 years old. Christine was born October 23, 1946 in Detroit to Dorothy (Snyder) and John Cosgrove.

Christine graduated from Dominican High School in Detroit in 1965. She became a Registered Nurse and obtained a Bachelor’s degree from Central Michigan University. She devoted her 25+ year work career toward providing people and their families with medical care and compassion.

On November 6, 1969, Christine married Edward McClellan, beginning a marriage that would span nearly 50 years and bless them with 2 children and 4 grandchildren. They had great fun together and enjoyed spending their time with a happy circle of friends, neighbors, and family. Together, they raised their two daughters in a very loving and supportive home. More recently, Christine (Grammy Chris) and Ed (Papa Ed) have provided the same wonderful affection to their cherished grandchildren.

Christine was a loving mother, grandmother, partner in life, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be remembered most as a very kind, caring, and down-to-earth person and greatly admired for her quiet yet immense inner strength and determination. She faced several significant health challenges over the past 25 years with indomitable spirit. Most of all, Christine recognized precious moments in everyday life and she brought warmth and joy to the lives of everyone that has been so lucky to have known her.

Christine is survived by her husband Ed; her daughters, Debbie Cook (Michael), Stacey Boegner (Kipp); and her grandchildren, Kasey Christine Boegner, Spencer Boegner, Jackson Cook and Benjamin Cook. She is also survived by her sister, Faith Darlene Cosgrove and many other friends and family. Christine is preceded in death by her mother and father.

Family and friends may visit at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Road (between 14-15 Mile Rds.) on Thursday, June 6, from 3-8pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Name Catholic Church, 630 Harmon Street, Birmingham, Michigan, Friday, June 7, 2019, at 10am.

Memorials appreciated to the MidMichigan Health Foundation, 4000 Wellness Drive, Midland, MI 48670 or Capuchin Soup Kitchen, 1820 Mt. Elliott Street, Detroit, Michigan 48207.
