Obituary for Cheryl Lynn Peraino

Cheryl Lynn Peraino (nee Sudderth) of Flint, Michigan passed away peacefully Monday, March 9th, surrounded by her loved ones. She was 71 years old. She is survived by her husband of 26+ years, Frank Peraino, and her children, Raleigh Jacobs (Dave Hankel) and Kyle Lobes (Gina). She is also survived by her grandchildren who knew her as their Grammy: Ethan Lobes (8), Helena Cheryl Lobes (7), and George Lobes (3). She is also survived by her brothers John and Greg Sudderth; her brother Jerry preceded her in death.

Cheryl had an amazing life. She was born in Detroit’s New Grace (now Sinai Grace) Hospital on February 28th, 1949, to Jacob and Pauline “Polly” Sudderth. She grew up in Highland Park, Royal Oak, and Warren, Michigan. She attended Warren Cousino High school where her favorite class was hairstyling and her best friend was Lillian “Lil”. Shortly after school, she gave birth to her daughter Raleigh (1967) and son Kyle (1975). She went on to attend Detroit Barber College, graduating in 1969, and became a barber for 10 years, primarily at Tech Center Barber Shop on Van Dyke in Warren. She went on to study nursing at Macomb Community College, earning her Associate's Degree and being certified as a registered nurse in 1983. She served for over 20 years as a nurse in both the Emergency Rooms and Operating Rooms at several Detroit area hospitals such as Wm. Beaumont, St. John, Bon Secours, Crittenden, and Cottage Hospitals to name a few. She also performed pre-certifications for Blue Cross Blue Shield and then retired from nursing at Northern Michigan Hospital in 2006.

She had a strong Christian faith and had a desire to care for and serve others. She always had a tremendous sense of style and used it to make amazing custom jewelry pieces in her later years. She was articulate, well-spoken, well-read, amazingly-dressed, cultured, beautiful, and very loving to all those who knew her. She was an extremely skilled cook and hostess. She loved poetry, music, and scripture. Those who knew her will miss her engaging talks, stories, and wonderful sense of taste and style. We will miss her greatly, as she was called to Jesus and now serves in Heaven. God Bless.

A Funeral Service will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Road, Clawson, Saturday 4pm. Friends may visit beginning at 2pm.

Burial will take place privately at White Chapel Cemetery in Troy.
