Obituary for Charles J. Bellavia

Charles “Chuck” Bellavia, July 7, 1947 - June 9, 2020, Troy, MI passed away peacefully at the age of 72 at Troy Beaumont hospital. He is survived by his wife Valen Bellavia (Rizzardi) and their children Theresa & (Peter Bucheli), Charles & (Amy Simpson), Julianna & (Tim Zelek), Laura & (Hari Rao) and Andrew & (Melinda Sambrook) fifteen grandchildren and his sister Barbara Thomas.

Chuck was born in Brooklyn, New York, to Joseph and Marie Bellavia. He graduated from Monmouth College and was a member of Delta Sigma Pi fraternity. He married Valen in 1971. Chuck enjoyed a long professional career in sales, including 15 years at Culligan Water.

Chuck was devoted to the Traditional Catholic Faith and served as an usher at the Our Lady Queen of Martyrs church in Fraser, MI. He was an avid gardener and loved playing the piano for his family and friends. Chuck’s sense of humor and his zeal for cooking, especially big hearty breakfasts, will be fondly remembered.

Chuck was an adventurous soul - curious. He loved history, music and geography. Closer to home, his children remember spontaneous road-trips as kids, with no plans but for the thrill of adventure. He was family to some & a friend to many. Chuck was cheerful, empathetic, deeply introspective, provided sound counsel and much needed levity at times when the situation called for it.

A loving husband, father and grandfather Chuck will be missed by his family and friends.

Chuck will be honored at his funeral wake at Lynch & Sons funeral home, 1368 N. Crooks Rd, Clawson, MI on Thursday, June 11th from 4pm to 8pm. A Requiem Mass will be held at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs church, 16414 Fourteen Mile Road, Fraser, MI on Friday, June 12th at 10am.

Because of Covid-19 masks and social distancing are required.
