Obituary for Cathy Hamilton Walsh

Cathy Hamilton Walsh died suddenly February 23, 2020. She was 69 years old. Cathy was born December 11, 1950 in Highland Park, Michigan to Marjorie and James Spencer Hamilton.

Cathy met and started dating John Walsh in while they were in high school. They fell in love and were married some years later at St. Regis Church in Bloomfield Hills. Their daughter Caitlin would later be christened there. During their marriage they lived in Birmingham, Royal Oak, Kalamazoo, Sherborn Massachusetts and Boston.

Cathy was an avid reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles, Jeopardy, shopping for shoes, and a glass of white wine with friends. Although she hated airplanes, she traveled to Europe and made the trip to Japan multiple times to visit her daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughters.

She loved her favorite Back Bay haunts, where everyone seemed to know her and was a member of The College Club in Boston. Cathy graciously hosted all of John’s family over the years, wherever they happened to be living. She was very proud of the fact that she could make a bed like a pro and her homemade lasagna was a favorite among family and friends.

Her dogs were very special to her, but above all Cathy loved her family. Face timing with her granddaughters was one of her favorite things to do. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who was deeply loved and will be sorely missed.

Cathy is survived by her beloved husband, John F. Walsh III and daughter, Caitlin (Mitsuteru) Sasaki. She is also survived by her granddaughters, Emma and Leah, sister, Judy (Bradley) Bordeau, and brother, Douglas (Susan) Hamilton, and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Regis Catholic Church, 3695 Lincoln Drive, Bloomfield Hills, Saturday, February 29, 2020, at 10am. Friends may visit at church beginning at 9:30am. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield.

Friends and Loved Ones will also be able to gather to Share Memories at 3pm, Saturday March 7, 2020 at The Harvard Club of Boston, 374 Commonwealth Avenue, Boston, Massachusetts 02215.
