Obituary for Catherine "Katie" Fiebig

Catherine “Katie” Fiebig of Berkley died suddenly, October 1, 2017. She was 57 years old. Katie was born November 9, 1959 in Pontiac to Sarah (nee Colwell) and John Chapman.

Katie received her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Michigan State University. She taught in a Lansing nursery school for four years and kindergarten in the Bloomingdale Public School District for two years. Katie was Assistant Director of the Kingswood Day Camp for three summers and presented a workshop on Environmental Studies and Recycling with Young Children at the AIMS Conference in 1999. She also participated in a three-year Technology Education Program at Cranbrook designed to increase the use of Technology in the classroom and was awarded the Excellence in Teaching Award in June of 2001. A longtime teacher at Cranbrook Brookside, Katie was deeply loved by her students. She will be sorely missed.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Robert Fiebig and daughter, Trina Marie Fiebig. She is also survived by her parents, John and Sarah Chapman, brother, John Paul (Jan) Chapman, sister, Christine (John) McMullen, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at Christ Church Cranbrook, 470 Church Road, Bloomfield Hills, Saturday, October 7th at 2pm. Friends may visit at church beginning at 1pm.

*For those planning to attend services at Christ Church, there has been a great deal of construction on Woodward Avenue in Bloomfield Hills, so it may be helpful to avoid Woodward if at all possible.*
