Obituary for Carl F. Zimmerman
Carl F. Zimmerman, a longtime resident of Royal Oak, died Friday evening December 14, 2018. He was 86 years old. Carl was born September 3, 1932 in Detroit to parents Helen (nee Jordan) and Carl Zimmerman.
Carl proudly served in the United States Navy and on June 8, 1963, married Dolores Marquardt. He retired in 1992 from the U.S. Postal Service and was an active member of Our Shepherd Lutheran Church in Birmingham. Carl enjoyed genealogy, playing the violin, word search, and walking the neighborhood. He often attended the Royal Oak Senior Center, visited Hermann’s Bakery, and had a special love for his cat, “Pumpkin”. Carl will be deeply missed.
Carl is survived by his loving son, The Rev. Frank Zimmerman and daughter, Laura Baugh. He is also survived by his three sisters, Gloria Jones, Sylvia McCabe, and Sonja Marr, and several nieces and nephews. Carl is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dolores Zimmerman.
Visitation will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Rd. (between 14-15 Mile Rds.) Monday (Dec. 17th) from 5-7pm. A funeral service at Our Shepherd Lutheran Church, 2225 E. 14 Mile Rd., Birmingham, Tuesday 11am. Friends may visit at church beginning at 10am. Interment in Glen Eden Cemetery, Livonia.
