Obituary for Betty Jean Groh

Betty Jean Groh of Clawson died September 30, 2019. She was 87 years old. Betty Jean was born February 16, 1932 in Detroit to Elizabeth (nee Lawson) and Gordon Willoughby. She graduated from Royal Oak High School and married William Groh April 12, 1952.

Betty Jean was vice president of Troy National Bank which later became Michigan National Bank, retiring in 1987. She was an active member of Starr Presbyterian Church in Royal Oak where she was the former treasurer, member of the bell choir and mission volunteer. Betty Jean was an owl collector and enjoyed sewing and traveling with “the gang”.

Betty Jean is survived by her children, Cindy (the late Mark Stamat) Groh, Terry (Robin) Groh, and Ken (Dawn) Groh and grandchildren, Jacob (Anne) Groh, Justin (Suzi) Groh, Adam (Abby) Groh, Renee (Stuart) Blohm, and Ryan (Jamie) Groh. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Carter, Chloe, Lucas, Trenton, Oliver, Wesley, and Conrad, step-granddaughters, Dr. Heather (Dr. Matt Schramski) Stamat and Jennifer (Anthony) Mannino,step-greatgrandchildren, Anthony, Mia, Gabrielle, Joseph, and Louie and sisters, Carol Ann (Marvin) Sammons and Sharon Kaye (Neal) Rayborn. Betty Jean is preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Groh.

Friends may visit at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Road (between 14-15 Mile Roads) Thursday, October 3rd, 3-8pm. A Funeral Service will be held at Starr Presbyterian Church, 1717 W. Thirteen Mile Road, Royal Oak, Friday, October 4th at 11am. Friends may visit at church beginning at 10am. Burial will follow in White Chapel Cemetery in Troy.
