Obituary for Audrey J. McKeon

Audrey J. McKeon died peacefully at home October 14, 2020. She was 89 years old. She was born May 28, 1931, in Detroit, to Magdelene (nee Shannon) and John Engel.

Born in Detroit, Mrs. McKeon lived in Birmingham and Troy throughout her life. In 1955, she married Charles E. McKeon at Holy Name Church in Birmingham, and they went on to have 8 children. A devoted nurse by profession, she dedicated her nursing career to caring for newborns at local hospitals. She loved the arts, animals, word and card games, reading, and spending time at the family homestead in Swartz Creek. She was a creative and artistic person, and became a very talented potter. She was also a devout and compassionate Catholic who supported many philanthropic causes, including Meals on Wheels and Right to Life. She was, in all ways, a selfless caregiver and peacemaker. A loving and kind woman, she was deeply loved and will be sorely missed by many.

She is survived by her 8 children, Timothy McKeon (Brian Austin), Donald McKeon, Teresa Simonetti (David), Linda Zafarana (Jim), David McKeon (Jill Rickels), Thomas McKeon (Jennifer Benjamin), Paul McKeon (Charlotte Ferry), and Katherine Finneran (Charles). She is also survived by 27 grandchildren, Christoper McKeon (Crystal), Robert McKeon (Andrea), Katherine Risko (Nick), Andrea Simonetti, Lauren Fabbri (Nick), TJ Zafarana (Kaitlyn), Alexa Zafarana, Charli Thenell (Zach), James Zafarana, Mac Zafarana, Nico Zafarana, Currie Zafarana, Charles McKeon, Paul McKeon, Leah McKeon, Ian McKeon, Owen McKeon, Caitlin Bourgeois, Liam McKeon, Aidan McKeon, David Finneran, Thomas Finneran, Mikayla Finneran, and Bridget Finneran, and 7 great-grandchildren, Allison, Annabelle, Giosue, Simone, Nino, Bennett, and Isla.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 N. Adelaide Street, Fenton, Michigan, Saturday, October 17, 11am. Friends may visit at church beginning at 10:30am.
