Obituary for Arlene Ila Clancy

Arlene Ila Yageman was born in Kinde, Michigan on December 20, 1923. She was the first child of August Frank and Dolly Elizabeth Toner Yageman. She was joined by four brothers and four sisters.

On March 1, 1941, she married Patrick Joseph Clancy “Joe”. They raised ten children and enjoyed the love of twenty grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, and one beautiful great, great granddaughter.

Arlene unconditionally loved her family, friends and neighbors. She especially loved holding babies. Tradition was a hand crocheted afghan for each grandchild’s birth. She was proud of her children and liked them to look polished even if it meant staying up all night to make or iron an outfit. She was an avid card player right until the end, you could count on her to come to your party and most often she would be one of the last to leave. She was in her element surrounded by people and all of you that have sent her mail, thank you; it meant the world to her. She read a million books and each card and letter she received numerous times. She loved her girlfriends, including Beatrice, her cousin, Boots, Jean Lawton and Helen Parker, the gals from the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion and her card playing friends at Town Village. Town Village is where she spent her final days and her caretakers and friends there became her extended family.

Arlene is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Patrick Joseph, her son, Dennis Patrick, three brothers Eldon “Dutch” (Lena), Willet “Biff” (Rose), and Max and her sister, Orla McGee (Joe).

She is survived and will be dearly missed by her children, Gary Joseph (Rosa), Connie Dee Sanner (Chuck), Gaile Marie Swiatowy (the late Richard), Cheryl Lynn (the late Richard Sidick), Donna Leigh Clancy Tauer (Jerry), Kevin John (Susan Sewell), Robin Elizabeth Sulich (Thomas), Chris Anne Cleveland, and Kurt August (Jackie), her grandchildren, David Clancy, Rebecca Clancy (Michael McGrath), Colin Sanner (Christina), Devon Sanner (Dolores), Eric Swiatowy (Jenny), Dawn Swiatowy (the late Kevin Lynch), Jennifer MacInnis ( the late Curtis), Wendy Clufetos (Jamie), Adam Westmoreland (Kelly), Tami Gray (James), Stacy Cowan, Christy Jacob (Karl), Jeffrey Kuklinsky (Joanna), Emily Sulich, Dan Sulich (Raina), Faith Sulich, James Cleveland, Brian Cleveland, Kelsey Dzwilewski (Peter Paul) and Bridget Clancy, her great grandchildren, Lucas, Ariane, Duffy, Molly, Kyle, Hailey, Abigail, Kate, Patrick, Dylan, Gavin, Cole, Reagan, Ryan, Barrett, Hunter, Thomas and Cameron, and her great great granddaughter, Sophia, her siblings, Elwood “Bud” Yageman (Lela), Audrey Blair (Allen), Shirley Durr and Lee Street and a number of nieces and nephews.

May she be reunited with loved ones in heaven and rest in peace.

A Funeral Service will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Road (between 14-15 Mile Roads) Wednesday, January 29th at 11am. Friends may visit Tuesday, January 28th, 4-8pm and Wednesday beginning at 10am. Burial will be in Roseland Park Cemetery, Berkley.
