Obituary for Arlene F. Govan

Arlene Fay Govan, a longtime resident of Royal Oak, died Sunday June 30, 2019. She was 87 years old. Arlene was born June 22, 1932 in Roseville, Michigan to parents, Ernest and Thelma Prevost and was one of eleven children.

Arlene graduated from Royal Oak High School and married Benjamin “Benny” Govan in 1950. She was a dedicated bookkeeper for Precision Welders & Fabrication for many years. Arlene loved shopping, camping, Houghton Lake and the outdoors. She adored her grandchildren and dog, Maxium. Her great joy was spending time with her loving family. Arlene was the matriarch of the family and will be greatly missed.

Arlene is survived by her loving children, Cindy (Kevin) McCauley, Barbara (Chuck) Mattson, Jim Govan; grandchildren, Dane McCauley, Matthew McCauley, Michael Mattson, Karen Mattson, Amber Mattson, Daniel Govan, Robert Peters, Justin Peters, Whitney Bennett, Fern Kidder, Paul Kidder, Wayne Kidder, II and 10 great-grandchildren. Auntie-Gram to Sean and Micayla. She is also survived by her brothers, Floyd Prevost, Bob Amsler and sister, Jeanette Barnes, and several nieces and nephews. Arlene is preceded in death by her husband, Benny Govan, sons, Glen and Terry Govan, and grandson, Dustin McCauley.

A funeral service will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Rd. (between 14-15 Mile Rds.) on Friday (July 5th) at 12:30pm. Friends may visit Friday beginning 10am. Burial to follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Detroit.
