Obituary for Ann Wither

Ann Wither of Royal Oak, died peacefully, February 23, 2012, at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. She was 88 years old. Ann was born May 11, 1923, in Mt. Pleasant, to Nellie (nee Gripton) and Horace Kaake.

Ann grew up in Highland Park. At the onset of the Second World War, she traveled to Little Rock, Arkansas to marry George A. Wither before he went overseas. After the war George and Ann settled in Royal Oak where they raised their two children.

A talented artist, Ann loved drawing portraits, especially of her family members. She also wrote a series of Christmas poems which the family has treasured for years. Perhaps Anns greatest joy came from spending time with her family at their cabin on Murphy Lake in Millington, Michigan.

In recent years, as her body was failing, she remained young at heart and young of mind, as witnessed by her delightful Christmas poems. Each year, she would imagine a new holiday theme and amazingly bring that fantasy to life through carefully crafted poetry. She presented this Holiday Magic as a special gift to all family members, right up to Christmas 2010.

She was all about family and could rattle off all the names and details of her all 8 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren, at the drop off a hateven at 88 years of age!

Also, and surprisingly, in recent years, she became an avid sports fan, especially when it came to Michigan and Michigan State football and the Detroit Tigers and Pistons.

Most importantly she a very kind and loving person and was liked and respected, by all who knew her.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Ann was deeply loved and will be sorely missed.

Ann is survived by her children, Thomas (Linda) Wither and Barbara Wither, and grandchildren, Brad (Sharon) Wither, Tammy (Eric) Folsom, Brent (Anna) Wither, Bonnie (Dan) Boes, Bill Wither, Holly (Ian) Grant, Allen (Tammy Sue) Burk, and Kathy Cain. She is also survived by 19 great-grandchildren. Ann is preceded in death by her husband, George Wither.

Funeral Services will take place at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Road (between 14-15 Mile Rds.) Saturday 12 Noon. Friends may visit beginning at 11am. Interment in White Chapel Cemetery, Troy.

Memorials appreciated to American Diabetes Association, 30200 Telegraph Road, Suite 105, Bingham Farms, Michigan 48025.
