Obituary for Ann Marie Martini

Ann Marie Martini died peacefully May 18, 2018. She was 90 years old. Ann was born August 12, 1927, in Boyne Falls, Michigan, to Mary (nee: Zajac) and Stephen Czerkies.

She was born and raised on a farm where she was one of eight children. Eventually Ann moved to Detroit for more job opportunities. It was there she met the love of her life, Sam Martini. The two married and had six children together. Life was challenging raising six children but she was never one to complain. She was always present and part of her children’s lives in such a tangible way.

Despite being a busy mother and homemaker, Ann loved going to bingo on Sunday’s after church and enjoyed traveling, especially to Las Vegas, Florida, and to her hometown in Northern Michigan with her sister, Bernice. Ann enjoyed cooking and baking. She was a beautiful, kind, sweet, caring, patient, and loving soul. She loved her family as much as they loved her. She will forever be an inspiration and hero to her family. She was an amazing woman who always lived her life having Hope and Faith.

She is survived by her children, Patricia Ann (Steve) Morris, Linda Lee (Jerry) Dunn, Jacqueline Mary (Ronald) Livingstone, Samuel Martini, Steve Allen Martini, and Francie Ann (Steve) Haskell. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, her sister, Bernice (the late John) Kolodziek and brother, Sylvester (Josephine) Czerkies. Ann is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Sam, and her siblings, Andy Czerkies, Joe Czerkies, Josephine Wozniak, Pauline Maior, and Victoria Pawlowski.

Visitation will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Road (between 14-15 Mile Roads), Tuesday 3-8pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Name Catholic Church, 630 Harmon, Birmingham, Wednesday 10am. Friends may visit beginning at 9:30am.

Interment will take place in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, Michigan.
