Obituary for Andrew M. Fairbanks

The Reverend Mr. Andrew Morse Fairbanks of Clawson passed away June 23, 2021 at the age of 83. Known to most as Andy, he was born May 17, 1938 in Allentown, PA to Julia (nee Morse) and Arthur Fairbanks Jr.

Andy joined the Marines after high school and served for two years at Camp Pendleton in California. He later worked in the automotive industry and for Beaumont Hospital; however, he was most proud of his time as a Deacon in the Catholic Church working with Fr. John Esper at St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church in Madison Heights. One of his favorite parts of being a Deacon was baptizing babies and bringing them into the Catholic family.

Andy is survived by his devoted wife of nearly 59 years, Patricia, and daughters Diane (Ron) Bochniak and Dana (Ed) Andrzejewski. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren: Bradford, Jarrett (Rachel), Julia, Keagan, Michael, Jonathan, and Sarah. He’s also survived by his sisters-in-law Kay Falkenhan (Paul) and Carol Fairbanks, and brother-in law Phil Dauphin (Rose). Also, many nieces and nephews. Family was so important to Andy, and he never missed a chance to spend time with his children and grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his son Andrew Morse Fairbanks II, brother and best friend Arthur Fairbanks III, and his beloved sister Evelyn Carnahan (Robert). His quick smile and ability to bring humor into most situations will be missed by all.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church, 28353 Herbert Street, Madison Heights, Thursday, July 1, 2021, at 10am. Friends may visit at church beginning at 9:30am.

Memorials may be made in Andy’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
